Off-roading in a new 2015 Jeep Patriot around the Philadelphia area means you'll be getting it plenty filthy, and that's fine. However, after a rough winter your vehicle is probably encrusted with salt and a little beat up. So get your Patriot back into summer adventuring shape with these helpful tips!
Wash The Underbody
Washing the exterior of your car is an obvious one. You want to get all the grime off to give your vehicle a brand new look while ensuring the safety of your paint job… but when was the last time you washed the underbody? Stuff like road salt and sand from the winter can do a serious number on the underbody of your truck in the long run, leading to problems like corrosion or rust.
As an added precaution, and while you're in the mood to wash your vehicle, open up the hood and wipe down your battery. Buildup of any residue may eventually cause overheating, which won't allow your Patriot to start up!
Fluids And Windshield Wipers

During the winter months, Philadelphia Jeep drivers are probably using their windshield wipers near constantly. The constant use causes a lot of wear and tear, meaning you should probably replace them once the snowy season is over! On the same topic, you'll want to top off your wiper fluids, get an oil check and make sure your brake and transmission fluids are in good shape. All the adventuring you'll be doing the summer demands a vehicle in top form!
Don't Let Your Tires Get Tired
Check your tire pressure. While you should be checking your tire pressure every so often anyway, the shift from cold to warm weather might have caused your tires to go from underinflated to overinflated. It's also entirely possible that you have a small leak in your tire due to hitting potholes in the winter. Constant plowing and traveling of big trucks do some serious damage to the roads and, in turn, your vehicle!
It's good idea to see if you need an alignment and tire rotation as well, though if you've been keeping a regular maintenance schedule on your car, you might not need it.
