Summer officially begins on Sunday, June 21, and in Philadelphia, it also means the start of summer concert season. So stock up on sunscreen, grab your hat and shades, shake out your picnic blanket, and prepare yourself for a summer of fun.

So what concerns have been scheduled for this summer in Philadelphia? Here are a few of the biggest ones.

Taylor Swift, Vance Joy, and Shawn Mendes

Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy and Canadian singer Shawn Mendes will join Taylor Swift for her fourth concert tour to support her latest album, 1989. Grab some of your friends so you can sing along with Swift's hits, such as "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,""Love Song," and "Shake It Off" beginning at 7:30 pm on Friday, June 12 at Lincoln Financial Field.

Dave Matthews Band

Delivering hits such as "Ants Marching" and "So Much to Say" for two decades, the Dave Matthews Band shows no signs of slowing down. You can catch the Philadelphia portion of their latest tour on Saturday, June 27 at 7 pm at the Susquehanna Bank Center. The band will perform two full sets every night of the tour, including a few covers and both electric and acoustic sets.

Imagine Dragons

To support their 2015 album Smoke + Mirrors, the band Imagine Dragons has scheduled an 85-show tour with a stop in Philadelphia on Tuesday, June 30 at 7 pm at the Wells Fargo Center. During the show, you can rock along with hits such as "Radioactive" and "I Bet My Life."

In addition to concerts by some of the biggest acts in the music industry, there are also some great local performers who will appear at festivals around Philadelphia. Here are few you may want to consider checking out this summer.

40th Street Summer Series

This free monthly outdoor concert takes place in Philadelphi's University City at 40th Street and Walnut Street. On July 25, August 29, and September 26, you'll be able enjoy live music by performers BalletX and Kyo Daiko. There will also be family-friendly entertainment, including face painting, fine artists, balloon artists, and jugglers. Performances will begin at 6 pm on the green behind the Walnut Street Free Library.

Concerts in the Park

This free summer concert series returns to Rittenhouse Square Park this summer for its 24th year. Held on August 13 and 20 this year, this event usually attracts some 10,000 music fans. Attending the event means experiencing entertainment like never before. This year’s performers will include DJ Lisa Love, Katie Frank and the Pheromones, Divers, DJ Cash Money, Worldtown Soundsystem, and Pablo Batista and the Mambo Syndicate.
