In a press release issued earlier today by FCA US LLC, the automaker announced the latest accolade for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Summit EcoDiesel version of the popular full-size SUV was named the winner in the Green ALV category at the 13th annual Carspondent.com "Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year" awards competition at the San Marcos Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona.

During the first day of the competition, a full panel of national and local media representatives, as well as Phoenix Automotive Press Association members, were on hand to evaluate cars, crossovers, SUVs, and trucks to see which models best matched an active life style. On the second day, more than 50 athletes and outdoor enthusiasts were on hand to give evaluations of their own. When all was said and done, the Grand Cherokee Summit EcoDiesel was named the best Green Active Lifestyle Vehicle.

"Individuals with active lifestyles don’t want the vehicles they drive to limit where they travel, or the amount of gear they can carry,” said Nina Russin, ALV co-founder. “Ram Truck and Jeep proved that their vehicles perform equally well on- and off-road and offer spacious, configurable cargo areas that fill the squares for buyers who like to venture off the grid, carrying their bicycles, kayaks, and camping equipment with them.”

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a legend in the automotive industry. It comes in a number of trim levels and options, and offers the utility, versatility, and capability that the Jeep Brand is famous for.
