The Jeep Cherokee for 2023 is a small crossover that has solid towing capacity, a well-controlled ride and a genuine affinity for the great outdoors. All-wheel drive comes standard this year in the Altitude Lux and Trailhawk trims. The Jeep Cherokee gives you a smooth ride, plenty of safety features and it knows how to handle itself off-road. Here's an overview of what you'll find in the new Jeep Cherokee at Gary Barbera’s On the Blvd in Philadelphia PA.

What's new for 2023?

Jeep makes some serious adjustments in its trim levels and powertrain for the Cherokee compact crossover for this model year. The Cherokee is now available in two trims, the Altitude Lux and the Trailhawk. The V6 engine with 271 horsepower has been replaced by a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that's good for 270 horsepower. The new engine comes exclusively on the off-road-oriented Trailhawk trim. The Altitude Lux lives up to its name with standard leather seating, a heated steering wheel and the convenience of remote start.

Trim levels

The Jeep Cherokee has simplified its menu down to just 2 trims for buyers from Cherry Hill and Pennsauken NJ to choose from:

  • Altitude Lux
  • Trailhawk

The Altitude Lux provides luxurious touches like a heated steering wheel and standard leather seating at an affordable base price. The Trailhawk gives you a powerful four-cylinder engine with a higher towing capacity than the Altitude Lux. What’s more, the Trailhawk comes with standard Jeep Active Drive Lock that adds muscle to the powertrain with a locking rear differential and a special traction mode to help you climb out of muddy or rocky terrain. The Trailhawk also gives you almost an inch of extra ground ground clearance along with more aggressive tires.

Engines and performance

Under the hood of the new Jeep Cherokee Altitude Lux is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 180 horsepower. Meanwhile, the Trailhawk gives you a 2.0-liter engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Both engines team up with a nine-speed automatic transmission and have all-wheel drive as a standard feature. Suspension tuning helps control body roll when you're taking corners without compromising ride quality. The Jeep Cherokee can go from zero to 60 mph in as little as 7.9 seconds.

Towing and payload

The Jeep Cherokee has a maximum towing capacity of 4,000 pounds when you're driving the Trailhawk models with the available Trailer Tow Group equipment package. That gives the Cherokee a huge advantage over rivals like the Mazda CX-5, the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Honda CR-V. Maximum payload in the new Jeep Cherokee ranges from 1,240 pounds to 1,625 pounds.

Fuel economy

The most fuel-efficient version of the 2023 Jeep Cherokee is the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower that can give you 21 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on highways around Langhorne and Jenkintown PA.

Interior comfort, technology and cargo

The new Jeep Cherokee provides comfortable seating for five people with supportive seats and controls that are easy to use. An 8.4-inch touch screen comes standard and so does a six-speaker stereo. The Jeep Cherokee has 25.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and provides a maximum cargo volume of 54.7 cubic feet.

Safety technology

The Jeep Cherokee is protective when it comes to standard safety features, offering a standard collision warning system, a rear cross-traffic alert, a rear view camera and blind-spot monitoring.
