When it comes to choosing between the 2015 Jeep Cherokee and the 2015 Mazda CX-5, it's really a battle of the brands. Since both offer unique style, technology, and cultural advantages, it can be difficult to choose between them.

In this vehicle comparison, we'll make it easy and only focus on the availability and functionality of key features, including how well the vehicles perform under the hood and in the cabin.

Performance Options

The 2015 Jeep Cherokee offers three powerful engine options: a 2.4-liter I4 MultiAir engine, a 2.4-liter I4 PZEV M-Air engine, and a 3.2-liter V6 24-valve Variable Valve Timing engine with Stop/Start. Available with either a nine-speed automatic transmission or a nine-speed transmission with Jeep Active Drive II, the Cherokee offers a one-on-a-kind experience that you simply can't get from the competition.

The Jeep Cherokee is built for adventures from the availability of engines to the two suspension systems offered: normal-duty or off-road suspension. Built to withstand regular on-road driving and the challenges of off-roading and rough-weather driving, the Cherokee is built for an adventure.

Unfortunately, the underpowered base engine-a 2.0-liter four-cylinder-in the 2015 Mazda CX-5 feels inadequate for most drivers. And since it's only available with front-wheel drive, many drivers won't find this model to be comparable to the base model of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee, which is both powerful and equipped to handle all of the adventures you have planned.

Interior Features

The 2015 Jeep Cherokee comes standard with an easy-to-use 5-inch touchscreen display and six-speaker audio system. The vehicle offers standard an audio jack input for mobile devices, integrated voice command with Bluetooth, a remote SD card slot, and the Uconnect 5.0 AM/FM/BT audio system. Also available are an 8.4-inch touchscreen display with a Uconnect 8.4AN AM/FM/ SXM/HD/BT/NAV audio system as well as GPS navigation, HD radio, a USB port, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio with a one-year radio subscription.

While the systems available in the 2015 Jeep Cherokee are intuitive, well placed, and well designed, the system in the 2015 Mazda CX-5 feels not only outdated but also difficult to get to. For most drivers, the 5.8-inch touchscreen feels out of reach.

The Tom Tom navigation system the vehicle offers is also just plain old. The system doesn't work well, the screen feels too small for the vehicle, and it's difficult to use. Unless you have plenty of spare time to learn how the system works and are willing to deal with its finicky ways, you may want to stay away from this infotainment system altogether.
