Performance Comparison

The 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers four engine options. The first option is an SRT 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that's designed to be super powerful. The second option is a 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine, which is a bit more efficient. The third and fourth options are a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine and a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, both of which offer efficiency and great power. These engines are paired with an eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission. 

The Jeep Grand Cherokee offers three 4x4 systems: a Quadra-Drive I 4WD system, a Quadra-Drive II 4WD system, and a Quadra-Trac Active On Demand 4WD system. Each of these has their advantages, but you'll want to choose which system is best for you depending on how often you'll need to use the 4x4 system. The vehicle also offers three suspension options: normal duty, active damping, and Bilstein active. 

The Toyota Highlander offers only three engine options: a 2.7-liter DOHC 16-valve engine with Dual Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence (VVT-i), a 3.5-liter DOHC V6 24-valve engine with dual VVT-i, and a hybrid engine, which is a 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve engine with EV and ECO modes. The vehicle comes with a standard six-speed Electronically Controlled Automatic Transmission with Intelligence. 

While the vehicle has plenty to offer, it simply has fewer options than the Grand Cherokee and still doesn't feel as powerful as the competitor despite what appears to be a powerful engine. 

Interior Feature Comparison

On the interior, the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee has plenty to offer today's buyer, including a whole list of great technology features. These features include a 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a six-speaker audio system. The vehicle is also offered with an upgraded system, which is the Uconnect 8.4A AM/FM/SXM/BT/NAV audio system that comes with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display. The available upgrade to the audio system is the 19 Harman Kardon speaker system with subwoofers. 

The Toyota Highlander offers a standard Entune audio system that includes a touchscreen. The biggest problem with this system is that it's cumbersome to use. With all of the advances in technology, it's difficult to deal with a system that's slow, not intuitive, and takes a long time to set up.

With so many options in the affordable SUV category of vehicles, it's easy to see why this would be such a tough decision. Both Jeep and Toyota are known for their high-quality vehicles, but when it comes down to it, the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee presents a strong argument.
